The Problem

The level of risk associated with procuring custom microelectronic components for use in the defense industry must be closely monitored and mitigated, and those involved need a simplified way to understand and address the levels of risk to ensure the minimum security criteria are met.

The Solution

Design an application with a multi-page form to capture potential risk factors and calculate the necessary mitigation activities via attack tree countermeasure analysis.

(Due to the sensitive nature of this governmental defense application, I am not permitted to include pictorial evidence of my work.)

Through an iterative process that included weekly feedback from stakeholders, I designed a multi-page form to gather necessary information from users. This information was then synthesized into a list of recommended and required actions, presented in a “tree,” that users needed to check off before submitting the form for approval.

Since the risk factors and mitigations changed frequently, the client also need to be able to edit the form and “tree” components on their own, without the need of external developers. So I also designed a form for creating and editing the multi-page form that allowed for the capture of multiple and potentially complicated dependencies, as well as conditional logic.
